New to the VIVO Conference? Here are some tips...

For conference attendees new to VIVO, there are a number of opportunities to connect with colleagues, friends, and collaborators at the VIVO Conference!

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

New attendees are encouraged to attend the several networking opportunities at the VIVO conference.  The poolside welcome reception on Wednesday, Poster Session on Thursday, 30-minute breaks and 2-hour lunches are great ways to meet people and make connections.

LIGHTNING ROUNDS & BIRDS OF A FEATHER SESSIONS

Due to overwhelming popularity from last year's conference, we are pleased to offer Lightning Round Talks and Birds of a Feather (BoF) Sessions at the 2012 VIVO Conference. The BoF sessions offer extended time to facilitate more meaningful conversations, and we encourage you to share some of your work at the Lightning Round Talks. Lightning Rounds and BoF will be held in the breakout rooms on Thursday and Friday from 12 - 1 p.m.  These are "first come, first serve" conference activities, and sign up sheets will be available at the conference registration desk.

Lightning Round Talks

We welcome conference attendees to give a fast-paced short presentation (5 minutes max) on a topic that is complimentary to the many themes surrounding the 2012 VIVO Conference.  Lightning Round Talks will be held in the Raphael breakout room.

Birds of a Feather (BoF) Sessions

Three rooms are dedicated to BoF Sessions at this year's conference:  Michelangelo, Alhambra, Escorial. These informal discussions focus on topics of interest decided upon by conference attendees.

We've already received three BoF session topics:

  • Alternative Metrics (altmetrics)
    Discussion Leader:  William Gunn
  • CTSA Researcher Networking Affinity Group (RNAG)
    Discussion Leader:  Dave Eichmanm
  •  VIVO Developer Community Tools and Web Presence
    Discussion Leader:  Jim Blake
